  • Paris : "The Solvency 2 Club: Is run-off on your radar", 28th May 2008
    We are delighted to welcome you to a new session organized by the Solvency 2 Club. By participating in the session, companies will get the chance to discuss about the enforcement of Solvency 2 in their core business processes, and how to uncover fresh opportunities to unlock value from it.

    Solvency 2 is driving an in-depth transformation of the business processes through its new focus on a risks sensitivity approach. As such, Solvency 2 requires to improve and strengthen the measurement and monitoring of risks. During the session, we will address some key issues such as how to deal with run-offs in order to optimize value through the opportunities that are offered by Solvency 2 and the tools and methods available to proactively manage run-offs.

  • London: QIS 4 Workshops at the ABI
    Life companies 19 - 20 May Non-Life companies 22 -23 May

    These workshops provide a practical approach for UK insurers preparing QIS 4 submissions with experts from PricewaterhouseCoopers, the ABI and FSA. Day One of each workshop covers a detailed view of the QIS4 requirements. In-depth training takes delegates through the QIS4 package with advice, information and tips from insurance specialists from PricewaterhouseCoopers, the ABI and the FSA. Day Two tackles a case study, giving PC-based hands on experience of completing QIS4 and the opportunity to consider the consequences of implementation for firms. You'll have time to quiz the ABI and FSA in a panel session, and explore helpful pointers on how to plan next steps.

    The workshops will focus on the new areas in QIS4 over QIS3, and help firms with the more challenging areas of the spreadsheets. As well as being a refresher for those who have completed QIS before, it will also greatly assist those who are new to the QIS process or who are completing the groups section for the first time.

By participating in the session, companies will get the chance to discuss about the enforcement of Solvency 2 in their core business processes, and how to uncover fresh opportunities to unlock value from it.

    Solvency II is driving an in-depth transformation of the business processes through its new focus on a risks sensitivity approach. As such, Solvency II requires to improve and strenghten the measurement and monitoring of risks. During the breakfast session, we will address some key issues such as the scope of a Solvency II transformation program, the need to industrialize the risk processes, and how does it translate into a practical approach for Solvency II operational implementation and go-live.

  • Paris: "The Solvency 2 Club: introduction to QIS 4", 14th February 2008
    The dense document which has been delivered to the public comprises a certain amount of innovation particularly in terms of groups, internal models and the simplified calculation techniques designed to encourage the participation of small and middle-sized insurers in this exercise. By participating in QIS 4, companies will get the chance to give full consideration to their Solvency 2 projects. For many among them, participating in this exercice will be an opportunity to test their methodology and data, as well as their capacity to get mobilized.

    During the breakfast session, we addressed some key issues such as the technical difficulties and the critical points, how to get organised in order to make the most of this exercice and experience feedback from the QIS 3 exercise.   • ICBI Risk Minds Conference 2007
    PricewaterhouseCoopers sponsored Risk Minds 2007 in Geneva (10-14 December 2007). The conference is Europe's largest risk management event and attracts over 500 senior risk professionals. During the course of the Insurance Day, Bryan Joseph, Global Actuarial Leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers presented on IFRS and Solvency II: How is reporting being aligned in the new regulatory environment?

  • Paris: "Solvency II: Moving forward to the operational phase" Breakfast meeting, 4 December
    Following the QIS3 and the publication of the draft framework Directive, many firms have decided to move forward to a more operational phase for their Solvency 2 project. PwC will address some of the critical elements to have in mind to manage an efficient implementation programme by 2012.   • London: London Insurance Club 25 September
    Solvency II is moving forward with the long awaited draft Framework Directive published on 10 July. Setting out the key building blocks for Solvency II, PwC will consider key questions arising from it, including .... how does it compare to the Internal Capital Assessment regime in the UK? What can we expect to be the key challenges for our industry, if any? And, how does it compare to the recent developments within IFRS?   • Paris: Solvency II : Preparing for regulatory changes 25 September
    The main topics include internal controls and operational risk management, grouping to optimize capital allocation, key factors in implementing a solvency II project, mutuals and provident societies, the impact on the investment and reinsurance policies.   • London Insurance Club: Solvency II developments in 2007 - 22 May: This session will include feedback to CEIOPS' recent consultations, preparation for QIS 3 and emerging details of the draft Framework Directive. It will explore the Pillar I and Pillar III linkages with IFRS developments and look at the practical and business ramifications of the emerging proposals.
